My work is an exploration of the ways in which senses  interpret the phenomena of our existence.  My inspiration comes from my personal flight experience of encountering lightning, as well as other phenomena that are unique to flying. The interpretation of those experiences led me to my process of developing artwork that expresses that consciousness through the materials.

In installation work, I explore perception with layers of light, structure, and sound. I build a structure of planar panels that work like an edge of a moment. The moment is revisited in a LiDAR capture,a machine interpretation that is disrupted,and displayed over the structure. The capture is then translated by spectrogram into sound. This multiple level approach presents multiple interpretation opportunities.Every form carries intent.

Lucinda Esh  is an interdisciplinary artist currently making installations defined by edge, light, and sound. A pilot, who has spent time in military aircraft and in architectural design, she is a  longtime painter, now reaching out with new tools of structure, LiDAR and sound translation. A recent MFA graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she lives and works in the Washington DC area.
